Basically, this site will be a repository of the complete back-catalog of the multi-talented (or maybe rather very unfocused) musician, Karl Olson.
Ok enough third person stuff. Basically, it's a catalog site of my music that abuses various free filesharing sites (actually, this may be the most legal use of rapidshare and related sites ever.) Rather than tie it directly to my current site, I decided to split it off as it allows the main page to stay personal while this page might end up a bit more interactive as time goes on (acapellas, forum, who knows.) If nothing else, it allows the people who want just my music and could care less about the ZOMG DRAMA in the blog (not that there is a lot of it anyway,) to get it without anything else to bother with. At some point, I might make it into a community site or a netlabel or something like that, but for now, it's a basically my music repository, organized in a semi reasonable fashion. Sort of.
Now, some of you might be wondering "hey Karl, can I use your music in situation XXXXX" and here's my response. When it comes to works that are solely my creation and that I've put up for download on this site - IE: not a collaboration, cover or remix, nor a rip of any of my official releases (CDs, USB Drives, Digital Pay Downloads,) this set of rules apply:
This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 Unported License.
When other artists are involved in the work, get their clearance as well, and please don't distribute rips of my pay stuff. I mean, I know the bitrate on the free downloads isn't great, but I'd also like to stand a chance of making a little something from my work (Reason costs money, as does maintaining the computer it runs on.) I know there are some people out there who will disagree with that, but I think all things considered I'm being pretty nice about how I'm handling this. You can get your mash-up on without getting sued by me, and you can even waste your own bandwidth by putting up audio files that are already freely available on this site. Feel free to email me and tell me I'm a sell-out tool though, as I get very little email ;)
